The biggest providers of free hosting in Brazil are HPG and Kitnet; just like geocities.com or freeservers.com, they offer hosting in exchange of publicity space.
Many of the Brazilian sites are hosted in free hostings; several people who are experts in their fields can't afford paid hosting, and build excellent sites in the free hostings.
- Paid hosting:
There are two kinds of paid hosting in Brazil:
- big companies, like Global One, which host the bigger sites; plenty of data is stored and transferred; contracts are closed on a case by case basis.
- several smaller hosting companies, usually upsellers of the big companies; do a search at Yahoo! to check out some hosting companies.
